Denza to showcase Z9GT and Bao 5 at Automotive Management Live

Denza to showcase Z9GT and Bao 5 at Automotive Management Live

Car dealers attending Automotive Management Live on November 11 can explore Denza’s Z9 GT and Bao 5 and hear how the brand plans to take on established premium rivals with a dedicated UK dealer network.

Steve Beattie, deputy country manager for the UK at Denza's parent company BYD will be at the NEC Birmingham to discuss the new brand’s UK plans with car dealers.

Automotive Management Live offers a chance to see the cars first-hand and learn more about Denza’s plans as it builds its presence in the UK. The brand has said it will have its own dealers, marketing and sales teams, with aftersales service a particular focus.

Denza's product roadmap is expected to expand to six or seven cars in total, including two off-roaders, one of which will be available to view at the show.

Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president, has previously described attention to detail and customer service as central to Denza’s premium positioning. The stand will give dealer executives an opportunity to hear directly from the team about how that approach could work in UK showrooms.

BYD UK won the AM Award for Manufacturer of the Year in May in recognition of its success in the UK market.

The Manufacturer of the Year title was awarded in recognition of BYD’s wide-ranging success. Looking beyond just sales performance and retailer morale, key considerations for the judges included BYD's sensitivity to the voice of the consumer and an ability to react to both legislative changes and dealer feedback when it comes to product planning.

Furthermore, the AM Awards panel believed that BYD’s product range hit the mark for customers in terms of practicality, cost, style and environmental performance, and acknowledged that the brand is making a statement of intent on the development of new models and supporting technologies.

Beattie (pictured left with his Manufacturer of the Year AM Award) will be attending the show to share his views on plug-in vehicles sales as part of the day's conference content, but will also be talking to dealers about the Denza brand.

Two models to explore at Automotive Management Live

The Z9 GT leads Denza’s UK launch, with orders now open for the electric version at prices starting from £105,000. A Super DM plug-in hybrid is due to join the range from £95,000.

The electric Z9 GT has a three-motor powertrain producing 1,156PS, a claimed range of up to 373 miles and a 0-62mph time of 2.7 seconds.

It will also be the first BYD Group model to bring Flash Charging to the UK, with Denza claiming a 10-70% recharge in five minutes where suitable charging infrastructure is available.

Its chassis technology includes rear-axle steering, which enables a claimed turning radius of 5.35 metres, as well as functions such as crab walking. Visitors will be able to inspect the car’s cabin and equipment on the stand.

Alongside it will be the Bao 5, Denza’s first SUV offered to UK buyers. Orders are open for the plug-in hybrid, which is priced from £69,500 in Elegance trim and £78,880 in Ultimate trim. First customer deliveries are due early next year.

The Bao 5 combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for a total system output of 544PS. Its 31.8kWh battery provides a claimed electric-only range of up to 56 miles. The SUV also has a range of off-road driving functions, including front and rear electronic differential locks and 16 driving modes.

Tim Rose, Automotive Management editor, said: “BYD and Denza’s support for Automotive Management Live underlines the show’s importance in building relationships between trailblazing manufacturers and the dealer networks helping them succeed in the UK.

“BYD has already made a significant impact, and Denza adds another exciting dimension to the opportunities for UK car dealers. Bringing these brands together with our dealer audience creates a valuable opportunity to strengthen those relationships and explore what comes next.

“Having delegates experience the vehicles first hand and put questions directly to the teams about their product roadmaps and approach to doing business in the UK is a major coup. It further reinforces Automotive Management Live’s position as the UK’s leading automotive retail show.”
