Motor finance redress and regulation to take centre stage at Automotive Management Live

Motor finance redress and regulation to take centre stage at Automotive Management Live

Industry, consumer and regulatory impacts of the FCA’s proposed £8.2 billion redress scheme among topics to be debated at the NEC on November 12 at Automotive Management Live.

An expert panel will explore the latest developments in motor finance, including the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) proposed redress scheme for mis-sold car loans, expected to compensate up to 14 million motorists.

The session will examine how the FCA’s redress consultation, the Supreme Court ruling on motor finance commissions and shifting consumer sentiment are shaping the future of the sector.

Joining the session are three leading voices to cover the topic from the dealer, legal and consumer perspectives.

With extensive experience across both retail and regulatory environments, Paul Bentley, (pictured left) former operations director at Lookers, has played a key role in supporting the National Franchised Dealer Association’s (NFDA) engagement with the FCA during its motor finance review. Bentley will share an operational perspective on how the evolving regulatory picture is impacting dealerships on the ground, from compliance processes to customer conversations.

Jonathan Kirk KC, a leading barrister specialising in consumer credit and financial regulation at Gough Square, will offer legal clarity and context on the latest rulings, the FCA’s position, and what may lie ahead for both lenders and dealers.

Representing the consumer viewpoint, Rachael Jones (pictured left), director of automotive finance at  Autortrader will discuss how customer sentiment around vehicle finance has shifted, and how transparency, trust, and digital retailing trends are shaping purchasing decisions in this new environment.

Together, the panel will address the critical question: what does the future of motor finance look like - and how can dealers prepare for it?

Tim Rose, AM editor, said: “The industry is well aware of the attention motor finance has attracted as part of the FCA’s review.

“With the redress consultation running through to mid-November, the show will be perfectly timed to discuss the latest developments and what they mean in practical terms for dealers, lenders and consumers.

“This session will help the industry understand the real impact of the FCA’s proposals, beyond the headlines, and ensure dealers are prepared for the next phase of regulatory change.”
